Army Half Marathon 2009

Today, 16 August 2009, I participated in my 5th Army Half Marathon 21km race since I took part in the event back in year 2005. As usual, my friend KY and KT joined me in this running event. My other friend, JX was supposed to join us for the 21km race as well, but something went wrong with the registration and in the end, he ended running the 10km race instead.

As we missed the flag off timing for the 21km Men’s Open category at 5.30am, we have to join the 21km Men’s Closed Category which starts at 6am. We are actually allowed to run pass the Closed Category runners and go ahead with our race, however there is 1 male runner in the closed category (most likely WO) near the starting line shouted at us and told to stop and wait for the closed category to start and run together… We really felt a bit frustrated at first in the sense that someone shouted at us in the early morning, causing our mood of running to go down : (

This time round, I was doing fine running for the first 10km of the race, but felt a bit stomachache after running near the ECP Macdonald area and in the end went to the toilet near the previous Big Splash to do my “BIG business” at Carl’s Junior before continuing with my run. After running pass the 13km mark, my laziness started again which caused me to walk for the rest of the 8km… : ( Maybe it’s my lack of training or my own excuse for not running the whole distance…. Hai…. : (

Anyway, I manage to finish the race and met up with KT, KY and JX to take group photos before we left the venue to Marina Square for our drinks and snack.
