This is the 1st event that I started off today for the year of 2006. It is called Surf n Sweat which was organised by NTU.
Actually this should be my 2nd time particapting in this event, but last year I was not able to particate as I was caught with chicken pox. Think some of u knew about it, where I was absent from school for 2 weeks. hehe.
Anyway, back to the topic. This Surf n Sweat event took part at Sentosa, Sunset Bay close to the Siloso Beach and started as early as 7.30am. For this event, I particapted in the Men's Close - "Surf and Run" category where I will asked to hand paddle a surf board out to the sea for some distance and back again. Then I had to dismount from the surf board and ran some distance covering some parts of Sentosa in order to complete the race.
It was quite a shagged experience as my category started off at around 1.40pm and the weather was quite hot there. Furthermore my surf board paddling skill was not that good especially when turning corners. Thats why I wasted some time on the surfing part and was the last in my detail to dismount from the surf board. hai... :( After that during the running part, I have to ran past quite a few turning steep upslopes and along some of the road pavement. Luckily at some part of the running route, I managed to catch up with 1 of the runners in my detail and finished off as the last 2nd position in my detail of 4 with a timing of around 32 min, which I think is quite slow. he.
However, I am still not sure about my overall position in my category and need to be update by the NTU sports Club again. Anyway, It was another new experience for me to start off in the new year.
My next event will be the National Vertical Marathon 2006, which will be held on 12th March at Suntec City. Looking forward to it. hehe.
