(Photo of Sentosa Entrance taken from inside the new Monorail)
This is my 2nd time taking part in this Sweat n Run event in NTU and I took part in the Men’s close category on Sunday, 4 Feb 2007. This time round, it was held at the Tanjong Beach at Sentosa.
As my reporting time is in the afternoon, so I was taking my own sweet time in getting to Sentosa and I also tried out the new monorail to Sentosa which has just operated recently. (buy the ticket & broad @ Vivocity Level 3) The monorail is quite fast, and this can be an alternative for getting to Sentosa via the bus service at the usual harbour front bus interchange.
Same as last year, the first part of the event is to handle paddle the surfboard out to the sea for 1 loop (check the photos) and continue running for another 5+km. This time round, I was again unlucky in the sea lead. My surfboard was too close to the boundary line and the back fir of the surfboard got hooked at the boundary line, lucky there was 1 safety personnel nearby whom helped me to unhook my surfboard back fir so that I can continue with my race.
After that I continue to run for 5+km from Tanjong Beach to Palawan Beach then to Siloso Beach and after that making a U-turn back to Tanjong Beach again. In the end, I finished the race with a timing of 40min but I think I was the last in my detail. Haha
Overall, actually the run was fine with me since I did some training myself, but the worst part is the hand paddle of the surfboard which I don’t really have a chance to practice at all. Haha. But it was another great Sunday for me at Sentosa. My next event is our NTU National Vertical Marathon on 25th Feb2007.
