(former Clifford Pier)
Yesterday, 1 Feb 2008, I went to the Collyer Quay Site with my colleague for a site walk below the deck of the former Clifford Pier (红灯码头) guided by the main contractor KSH. There will be new development going on at this area. (U try searching the project)
Our main objective of going down below the deck is to observe and take note of the structural condition and repairing work that are to be carried out for the new development. Each of us was issued with life jackets as a standard SOP before we can proceed below the deck of the Clifford Pier since it is near the sea level. Actually it was my second time going down below the deck of Clifford Pier. The first time was few weeks back and it was only me and the KSH side.

(Guided walk below Clifford Pier)
It was quite interesting going down below the deck for observation since seldom there is construction work to be carried out near the sea level in Singapore. Luckily the sea level is more or less stagnate since the Barrage is already put in use. KSH side guided us around the area below the deck, showing and explaining to us the repairing work to be done, since concrete structures that are highly exposed to sea water for a long term, will cause damage to the reinforcement inside the concrete. Some photos were also taken during the guided walk for record purposes. Overall, it was interesting inspecting the under deck of the Clifford Pier. Ü
