相聚一刻 TV Special

(Maison Ikkoku Anime)

For these few weeks, I actually don’t have any interesting topics to write in my blog, but recently I came across some videos in YouTube and let me recall back a particular Japanese anime that I used to catch during my secondary school days, 13 to 14 years ago. I still remembered staying up late at night on Tuesday & Wednesday early morning at 1.15am (30min anime) to catch this 96 episode anime (very long) for 1+ years. (Anyone catch this anime 13 to 14 years ago just like me??)

I did not expect this Japanese anime to be film into a TV drama, until I saw the TV specials on Youtube which features 11 short clips of 10minutes each. But I am not sure when the full drama will be released. Ü

(Maison Ikkoku TV special)

This Japanese anime is called “相聚一刻” aka Maison Ikkoku which is created by Rumiko Takahashi aka 高桥留美子 (better known for comic title 乱马Ranma 1/2) – I think most of you should know 乱马.

The story is about a “Ronin” (a student struggling with college entrance examination), Yusaku Godai, 五代裕作 falling in love with a recent widow, Kyoko Otonashi, 音无向子 who moved into the apartment house (Ikkoku-kan, 一刻馆 - an old pre-WWII building with six rooms (plus the janitor’s room) which is located in Tokeizaka) as the manager.

As the story progress, there are quite a few comedy and touching scenes and also combination of other interesting characters (all tenants living in the apartment have number contain in their name) which also make the story very interesting. Do watch the TV special below if you are interested.
