Land of the Lost Movie Review

(Poster of the Movie)

Last evening, I went to Lido with my friend to catch the free preview screening of the Land of the Lost movie. Special thanks to omy and United International Pictures (UIP) for providing the free tickets. However there is no free lunch, I have to write a review for the movie after watching it. Haha.

Anyway, back to the topic. This movie “Land of the Lost” is an American comedy film based on the 1974 TV series of the same film name. The storey is about a has-been scientist, scientist Dr. Rick Marshall been brought into another dimension called “Land of the Lost” with research assistant, Holly Cantrell and a tour guide, Will Stanton when the“tachyon amplifier” (device that enable time warp travel) is activated during their visit to the Devils Cave attraction. Below are the links to the full story of the movie and the 1974 version.

When they realized they are in the Land of the Lost, they wanted to find their way back home but they are not able to locate the tachyon amplifier. In the process, he met up an ape (Pakuni) called Cha-Ka (查卡) who befriend them and helped them to navigate in the strange dimension. In the strange world, they were chased by dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus and also encountered lizard men called Sleestak. After a tough battle and escaping, Dr. Rick Marshall finally returned to earth with Holly Cantrell (his new found love), while Will Stanton stayed at the strange dimension with Cha-Ka. But I think Will made a right choice when he found that Cha-Ka’s friends are very hot carribean tanned women wearing only a loincloth. Haha . I don’t think he wants to go back earth anymore… haha

After watching the movie, the overall show is considered average rating (probably a 2.5 or 3 stars out of 5) with some adventures, humorous scenes and some nice background computer graphics. The show reminds me of Jurassic Park where there are dinosaurs around, while the lizard men let me think of some alien creatures… A few funny scenes include the Cha-Ka touching Holly like nobody’s business, Marshall pouring dinosaur urine all over himself as a way to masks his scent, Marshall got attacked by a Giant Mosquito (Really a huge red bitten mark) and the Instant steaming of the giant crab and Cha-Ka singing English Songs…

I can only say that the show is just okay for viewing if you are seeking for some entertainment, adventure, laughter and relaxation as there are not much storylines attached to it. It is just another adventure type of movie, navigating around the strange dimension and trying to find the way home to human earth… Below are some trailers of the movie.
