Mizuno Mount Faber Run 2009

(Photo taken @ Mount Faber Park)

Yesterday was another tiring day for me. For the month of June, I will be taking part in 3 running events on 3 weekends. Now I have already completed 2 events. The running event that I took part on Sunday is the Mizuno Moutn Faber 10 km Run and it is also my first time taking part in this run.

(Registration Form for the run)

The night before the run, I tried to get to sleep around 1am but was unable to get to sleep as it was very hot. Even though I switched on the fan, but I still cannot get to sleep… I struggled till 2+am but still awake, so switch on my PC to surf the net till 3.30am before I really get to sleep. However I only manage to sleep for 2 hours, because I need to catch the early MRT train to reach Tiong Bahru area to meet up with KT to start the race together at 7.30am.

This race is quite interesting and challenging and participants needs to run along the pavement followed by running a gradually upslope to the Mount Faber Park and running down downslope from Mount Faber Park. As there is no road closure during the race, the organizer has arranged for Cisco to direct the traffic for the runners.

The most challenging part of the race is running upslope to Mount Faber Park. There is only 1 lane traffic for the runners, so all the runners eventually slow down a bit to endure the walk/run up the slope. The slope is gradually increase but it is quite tiring running up the slope. At the peak of Mount Faber, we stopped for a while to take some photographs before continuing our run. haha. I think It has become a habit for me to hold on with my camera when i am running in the race. haha. The next pace of the run was good and we finally get a chance to run downhill from Mount Faber Park. It was quite enjoyable running downhill as it does not require us to use much strength to do the job. Haha.

Eventually, we completed the run together with a timing of 1 hour 6 minutes. It is still consider a reasonable timing although we can actually achieve a timing below 1 hour. I think if we did not slow up along the upslope and for phototaking break, we may hit below 1 hour timing. Anyway, it was quite an enjoyable and challenging run.

After the run, KT and I went to Moutn Faber Safra Club for a swim before having a free bathing session. Haha. After that, it was another round of endurance event as I proceed to Clementi to meet my NTU classmate for KTV session, BD celebration, Bowling session and followed by Dinner @ Holland Village. All the events happened in 1 full day and it was really a tiring day…

Below are 3 videos of the race that I happened to find on the web. Haha. Enjoy.
