RunNUS09

(A friend who I saw in most running events, even though we never arrange to meet before. hehe)

This morning, I took part in the RunNUS 12km race running in the NUS campus, Kent Ridge area, Science Park Road, Pasir Panjang etc.

KT was supposed to join me for this running event too, but he missed the registration as there are limited vacancy for the registration. In the end, I joined this run alone. In the morning around 6+am, I took MRT to Clementi and wanted to transfer the SBS bus 96 to NUS and found that the first bus for 96 only arrive at 7am and my registration is 7.10am… Luckily I found 2 runners also facing the same problem and they are taking Cab instead and I joined the 2 stranger to get to NUS by the cab. I don’t know why the race booklet never state on the first bus timing for bus 96 since this is annual event…

At the registration, I saw another familiar friend again who I saw in most of the time during the running events even though we did not arrange to meet. Haha.

Actually the race for Men’s Open should starts at around 7.30am, in the end the race started at 8am due to some delay. The entire running route was a tough one as there are many up slopes to conquer. When we started the race, there is already 1 stretch of upslope within 500 to 600m from the starting line….

(At the Starting Point)

After running from about 8km or so, the sky started to turn dark and it started to run when I passed the 10km or so. All the runners have to run in that heavily to finish the race since the race was already started. After I finished the race, the organizer announced that the race for the Woman’s Open and the other categories will be cancelled due to the unexpected heavy rain… For most of us in the Men’s Open category, we are fortunate to run and finish the race even though it started to rain halfway and all of us got wet. I finished the race with a timing of 1hour 12minute, which is considered an acceptable timing.

My friend who was running behind told me that at 1 part of the route where there is a splitting of the road, the runners cannot find any marshal to direct them on the route when it started to rain. Probably the marshals are also taking shelter for themselves. In the end, he told me that it was a construction worker standing hereby directs them to correct route to take. Haha.

In the end, we rested for a while in the finishing point and bought a RunNUS event tee at $10 before proceeding home…

For the next 2 weeks, I will be away for In-Camp Training and will be missing in action. haha.

Nice T-shirt Design and the Race Booklet
