Belated 臼井儀人 (Yoshito Usui) and his comic title 蜡笔小新 (Crayon Shin-chan)
Last evening, I learnt about the death of 1 japanese comic artist, 臼井儀人 (Yoshito Usui, Age 51) for the popular comic series (蜡笔小新, Crayon Shin-chan) from the evening news. I did read about his disappearance during a mountain hiking from MyPaper few days ago, but did not expect his death.
He left his house on 11 Sept 2009 for mountain hiking in nearby Gunma Prefecture and did not return home since then. On 19 Sept 2009, 8 days after his disappearance, a body with clothes matching Yoshito Usui was found at the bottom of a cliff on Mount Arafune in the Gunma Prefecture.
His popular comic title, 蜡笔小新 started published since 1990 and was translated in several languauges and 65 millions copies of comics were sold worldwide, but with the announcement of his death, this popular comic will not be able to continue on. Although I did not collect this comic title, but as a Japanese comic lover and collector, it is still sad to hear that a famous comic artist met an accident and died, causing the comic to terminate suddenly. I know of 1 army friend, TN who like reading 蜡笔小新 and know that he will be quite sad after knowing this breaking news… : (
Anyway for those who don’t know 蜡笔小新, Crayon Shin-chan or臼井儀人 (Yoshito Usui, below are some links relating to the comic artist and comic
