CNY2010 - Day 4 (Visit to Ancient Egypt Exhibition)

(Photo taken just outside the exhibition hall)

On Day 4 of CNY, I visited the exhibition on “Quest For Immortality – The World of Ancient Egypt” at the National Museum of Singapore (NMS). The original entry fee is $15 for adult but it is $8.50 for a mastercard holder. The exhibition will be showcase in NMS from 22 Dec 09 to 4 Apr 10 (10am to 6pm).

This exhibition was an interesting and educational one as it showcases several artifacts that were present in the Ancient Egypt. We can learn about their writing system, means of measurement, games, ancient Egyptian's attitude to life and the afterlife, their invention, the art and architecture. We can also get to see the sphinxes, mummies and their coffins and a small model of the Great Pyramid in Giza.

From the exhibition, I get to know that Ancient Egypt was civilization in eastern North Africa (beginning around 3150 BC) which is concentrated along the lower reaches of Nile River which is now the modern nation of Egypt.
