Company Sandwich Making Competition

(Sandwich Making Competition - Creativity is all yours)

Today, a sandwich making competition was held in the company meeting rooms during the lunch period for the first time. There were a total of 10 teams from different department taking part in the competition. A subway sandwich lunch order were also made for all the other employee who were not participating in the competition.

Every team was given a $20 voucher before hand to purchase whatever stuff they need for the preparation of the sandwiches. Each team needs to come out with 5 identical sandwiches within a 30 minutes period which is more than enough time given.

As I am 1 of the REC club member this year, I was helping out in the event as time keeper for 3 teams and acting for part time photographer in the process. Haha. As the clock hit 12 noon, I announced the start of the competition for the 3 teams that I was responsible for. I also reminded the participants that plastic gloves should be wore at all time when preparing the sandwiches for hygiene purposes.

During the sandwich making process, I noticed some creativity ideas put into good use and design from the 3 teams that I was responsible were very attractive too. I observed teamwork from each team in making the nice sandwiches possible. Along the way, I took snapshots of the sandwiches making process and also the completed sandwiches. After the 3 teams completed their sandwiches, they brought their final product to another level to compete with other teams.

A final tasting and judging were carried out by the higher managements for all the sandwiches prepared by the 10 teams. After some presentation and judging, the top 3 teams were announced and cash vouchers of different amount were presented to the winning teams. Subway Sandwich lunch were also distributed to the other company employee for this event.

FYI. The judging criteria for this competition were based on a few factors as listed below.

Teamwork

Taste

Hygiene & Cleanliness

Creativity

Overall Presentation

Overall the new concept of having this sandwich making competition in the office during lunch time was an interesting one and it was considered a successful first major event for the REC club, except for some confusion in the distribution of the subway sandwich lunch which needs to be look going and improved in future events.
